Al Capone's Childhood...
Al Capone was born in Brooklyn, New York, January 17, 1899 and lived with his family who were immigrants from Italy. His childhood wasn't too bad although at the age of 14 he was expelled from school because of hitting his teacher back when she had hit him (don't do that kids). He had been expelled and this sudden act of violence was surprising due to his steady of B's that he was earning. Although at this time his family moved to Navy Street to 21 Garfield Place who's community would have a lasting impact on who he was.
Johnny Torrio Enters the Stage....
which is exactly as it sounds because that neighborhood consisted of him and his gang which Al Capone joined because Johnny saw some "potential" in him. Torrio then took Al Capone under his wing and taught him everything he needed to know about being a mobster and how to run the whole "show" of being a leader. Al would run errands, gain money, and a little respect which Torrio had taught him was important because to maintain a good public appearance was as good as having respect in the gang. Many kids and teens alike looked up to Torrio due to his powerful voice and amazing determination which they sought to replicate so some had made their own gangs.
Johnny Torrio then Leaves....
On Saturday, January 24, 1925 the North Side Gang retaliated against the O'Banion assassination by trying to assassinate Johnny as he was returning to his car from shopping with his wife. Torrio was struck in the jaw and also his lungs, groin, legs, and abdomen. They tried delivering the coup de grace but ran out of ammo and fled the scene. Torrio then declared he wanted a peaceful life and handed the reigns to his empire to Al Capone. Torrio thus moved to England with his wife and mother to live a peaceful life after being involved in the mob action for a long while.
And Finally the Curtain closes on the Capone.
Al Capone taking the reigns of the empire continued what Johnny Torrio started and took it to its peak. Al Capone took the empire outwards to Chicago and started the bootlegging of alcohol which gave him some major profit. With alcohol being prohibited and him breaking the Constitution made many people wary of him yet bought the products he sold. Also him being a crime boss kept his hand full with the police chasing him but surprisingly he still maintained his public appearance by donating to charity with the money he earned. He was considered a modern day Robin Hood but even more surprising was that he liked giving money to charity because of how happy they were which is just amazing to see a warm side to his otherwise cold heart. After getting imprisoned by police Capone's interests and control with organized crime diminished and he mentally/physically was in capable of doing work. His physician had concluded that he had the mental capacity of a 12 year old child. On January 21, 1947 he had a stoke but immediately after recovering contracted pneumonia but suffered a major cardiac arrest the next day where he died surrounded by his family on a barber chair (supposedly).
